Getting Started

What is Crystord Add-on?

Crystord Add-on is a Google Workspace Add-on that synchronises variables between Google Sheets™ and Google Slides™. Use it to create dynamic slide templates where placeholders like {{variable_name}} are automatically replaced with values from your spreadsheet. The Crystord web application at app.crystord.com provides account management and authentication for the Crystord platform.

Basic Setup

  1. Install the Crystord Add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
  2. Open your Slides™ presentation and add your variables in any part of your slides as {{variable_name}}.
  3. Click the bottom-left expansion arrow and press the Crystord icon to open the sidebar.
  4. The sidebar displays four buttons:
    • Create Database: Creates a new Sheets™ file named "database" that the Crystord Add-on is authorised to read, and opens it in a new tab. This file is automatically selected and initially empty. Add your variables by filling the table with the columns "Name" and "Value".
    • Select Database: Allows you to select a previously created Sheets™ file (database).
    • Open Database: Opens the selected database in a new tab.
    • Synchronise: Updates your current Slides™ file with the latest values from the selected database.
  5. The first step is always to create a database — no other functions work without it. After making changes to the database, click "Synchronise" to reflect updates in your slides. Use clear and consistent naming conventions for variables to avoid conflicts during synchronisation.

Crystord Web Application

The Crystord web application at app.crystord.com is the sign-in and account management portal for the Crystord platform.

Signing in

Navigate to app.crystord.com and enter your registered email address and password. If you have forgotten your password, use the password reset link on the sign-in page.

Sign-in issues

  • Invalid credentials: Double-check that you are using the email address you registered with and that Caps Lock is not active.
  • Password reset: Use the "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in page to receive a reset email.
  • Account access: If you cannot access your account after following the above steps, contact us at info@aleutheris.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install the Add-on?

Install directly via the Google Workspace Marketplace or from within Google Slides™ by opening the side panel and searching for "Crystord".

The variables in Slides aren't updating.

  • Ensure you have created and selected a database using the "Create Database" or "Select Database" buttons in the sidebar.
  • Double-check that the variable names in your slides match exactly with the names in the database — matching is case-sensitive and spaces matter.
  • Click the "Synchronise" button in the sidebar to update slides with the latest values from the database.

Do I need to re-link the Sheet every time?

No. Once a database is created or selected, it remains linked to the current Slides file. You can synchronise values as often as needed without re-linking.

What format should I use for variables in Slides?

Use double curly brackets: {{variable_name}} (e.g., {{item_name}}).

What if I accidentally delete the database file?

If the database file is deleted, create a new one using the "Create Database" button in the sidebar and re-add your variables. The database file is a standard Sheets file — you can also attempt to recover it from the Google Drive trash.

What if I select the wrong database?

Use the "Select Database" button in the sidebar to choose the correct file. Ensure the correct database is selected before clicking "Synchronise".

Troubleshooting

Add-on not appearing?

Refresh Google Slides™ and ensure you are signed in to the same Google account you used to install the Add-on.

Sidebar won't open or is unresponsive?

Try closing and reopening Google Slides™, or reinstall the Add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace if the issue persists.

Unexpected errors or bugs?

Take a screenshot or copy the error message and contact us using the details below. Include your browser version and a description of what you were doing when the error occurred.

Is the Add-on up to date?

The Add-on is updated automatically via the Google Workspace Marketplace. If you experience unexpected behaviour after a Google Workspace update, uninstalling and reinstalling from the Marketplace will ensure you are running the latest version.
